I have a simple goal for Scifimovies.Com. That is to make you, the web surfer, think of
Scifimovies.Com whenever you begin to wonder what Science Fiction Movies are playing in the theaters,
what are about to be released or what is in production. What reviews are there? What sites for
the movies are available? Where can I find Fan sites, official studio sites, reviews?
Well, you'll be able to find what you're looking for here. If not, Please let me know and I'll have my crack team
of web experts research the dilema and update the site right away!
Scifimovies.Com has it's origins back in '96 when, out of frustration I started keeping my own directory of
websites devoted to the sci-fi movie genre. My own personal interest at the time was in the serial
movies of the 40's, 50's and 60's with a special love for the great space invader films of the 50's. I took out the name
www.scifimovies.com back in February '97 (back then it cost about $300 or so to register a name!).
Over the years the site has taken on many different looks, ending with the one you are looking at now. I've learned to
keep the interface simple. Less graphics, no flashy animations. People want to find the information
they are looking for quickly and a cluttered environment doesn't help matters. Plus, it's easier for me
to keep the site fresh and updated if the html is simple and straightforward. Also, a lot of people (90% or so, I'm told) have
dial-up accounts like myself, limited to 56k connection speeds (ok, 40k, on a good night!). A lot of sites I visit
are so cluttered and loaded with graphics that it takes forever to view the site and I end up moving on. Lesson learned.
